Integrating renewable energy infrastructure into an active campus parking environment required a coordinated, multi‑disciplinary approach. WSB, through its legacy firm NEO Virtus, delivered issued‑for‑construction electrical engineering for five solar carport structures at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, totaling 2.8 MWdc (2.166 MWac).

WSB designed the full AC and DC electrical systems for the elevated canopy installations, including equipment selection, conductor sizing, protection coordination, and grounding strategies specific to solar carports. The scope also incorporated data acquisition systems, security, and lighting to support both system performance and campus safety.

Routing PV output, communications, and lighting infrastructure through the carport column foundations required close coordination with structural engineering to ensure proper conduit placement, concrete clearances, and long‑term serviceability. Additional considerations addressed vehicle circulation, equipment access, and safe integration of above‑grade and below‑grade systems in a high‑traffic setting.

The completed design package met all applicable code and utility requirements and supported efficient permitting, fabrication, and construction of the solar carport system.
