At a compact commercial facility in Bristol, Rhode Island, the Tri‑Mack Solar project combined rooftop solar generation with battery storage to enhance on‑site energy resilience. WSB, through its legacy firm NEO Virtus, provided issued‑for‑construction electrical engineering for the 720 kW rooftop solar array and 120 kVA AC‑coupled battery energy storage system.

The electrical design was developed around the building’s structural and operational constraints, requiring careful coordination of equipment placement and distribution pathways. WSB engineered the full AC and DC systems, integrated the storage components, and developed grounding and bonding strategies that supported safe access, long‑term maintainability, and reliable system performance.

A line‑side interconnection at the building’s service disconnect was a defining element of the scope. The design addressed NEC requirements and utility standards to ensure proper protection and coordination while minimizing complexity during utility review and construction.

The final design package enabled a smooth permitting process and efficient construction, supporting the client’s renewable energy and load management objectives within a constrained rooftop environment.
