The city of St. Anthony, MN was awarded a Clean Energy Community Education grant from the Minnesota Department of Commerce and US Department of Energy in order to share their approach to clean energy and sustainability.
The award recipient cities were invited to be contributors at the Minnesota Clean Energy Communities exhibit in the Eco Experiences building during the 2019 Minnesota State Fair. St. Anthony wanted to find an interactive and engaging way to create excitement about their story.
After meeting with the city to better understand their goals, WSB recommended that we leverage the ESRI Story Map platform to share their story. 
We decided to use a puzzle theme to generate an interactive map allowing users to click on individual puzzle pieces to learn more about the selected clean energy tactics. Rather than use the more traditional scrolling functionality, the puzzle design provided the user a more friendly interface and the flexibility to move easily between tactics.
WSB was able to provide the city of St. Anthony with a 42″ interactive touch-screen monitor, a mobile hot spot and an on-site technician to bring their display to life. The large screen monitor allowed multiple visitors to view the Story Map on screen at the same time, which in turn, generated significant interest in the city’s story and drew more people to their display.
