Idaho DEQ – Statewide Environmental Assessment Support

WSB, through its legacy firm Alta Science & Engineering, Inc., has partnered with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality to provide comprehensive environmental assessment and remediation support across the state of Idaho.

Over the course of more than 100 projects, our team has supported IDEQ and community stakeholders through all phases of the assessment process, addressing a wide range of environmental challenges. This work includes transforming former schools impacted by asbestos and lead paint into affordable housing, as well as supporting the cleanup and redevelopment of historic mining sites.

WSB has completed Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in Boise and other communities, including projects such as the TRICA Dance Studio and Adare Manor. In addition to site assessments, our team has characterized contaminants of concern, developed remedial alternatives and implemented cleanup, monitoring and site closure activities.

We have worked closely with IDEQ to advance best practices across the state, including co-presenting at local, regional and national conferences to share innovative approaches to environmental assessment. Our long-standing partnership, now spanning multiple contract renewals, reflects consistent delivery and trusted results.

Core project work has included environmental assessments, risk evaluations, sampling and analysis, asbestos and lead-based paint investigations, permitting support, remedial design and implementation, and community engagement.

This ongoing collaboration supports safer communities, responsible redevelopment and informed environmental decision-making across Idaho.
