Wind

We are working with a wind client who is expanding their trade area and is looking develop wind farm sites in Montana. To date, we have completed a series of initial desktop reviews of their proposed Montana sites to identify any risk factors. Specifically, we evaluated the impact of the equipment on local avian species.

One of the sites revealed the possible presence of golden eagles which are federally protected. This required us to coordinate with the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Montana Game, Fish and Parks Service to develop a series of avian surveys that will be completed over the next two years, before any wind farm construction can begin.

Currently we are conducting both a raptor and non-raptor surveys in the area. The next step will be to develop a plan to survey for eagle nests which will require the use of a helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft to identify nests in the area.
