WSB collaborated with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community to conduct a feasibility study across 15 tribal buildings and parcels to evaluate the sites for solar PV systems potential. WSB conducted on-site assessments, reviewing existing electrical equipment, roof structural load-bearing capacity, and utility interconnection requirements to determine solar viability across these sites. A detailed financial analysis of existing electrical usage, existing solar installations, planned future upgrades, utility rates, and estimated solar cost was completed, determining ROI and payback for each site. Sites were ranked based on CO2 reduction, payback, and building planned maintenance schedules to make recommendations on which buildings to proceed with first. Research into existing federal and state grants and funding opportunities was completed, and proposals were designed with those requirements in mind to streamline the process for application and installation. Detailed layouts and initial 10% electrical engineering designs were completed as part of a Phase 2 scope for the recommended sites to streamline the interconnection and future installation process.
