Shakopee Historic Downtown Improvements

The City of Shakopee wanted to improve three key pedestrian areas in its historic downtown. The project included River City Plaza, Gateway Plaza, Lewis Street Parking Lot, and streetscape improvements associated with each. WSB was selected to provide final design and construction administration.

We wanted to make the downtown area as visitor friendly as possible by incorporating flexible use areas suitable for farmer markets, food trucks, art fairs and increased the day to day parking capacity.

We implement a variety of changes to improve the overall experience of visiting downtown Shakopee.

Our improvements included adding seating areas, art sculptures, infrastructure to accommodate holiday lighting and seasonal tree display, decorative / permeable pavements, kiosk, lighting, silva cell tree planting zones, masonry walls and columns, decorative lighting, identification/wayfinding signage and landscaping to complement the historic nature of downtown of Shakopee.
