WSB assisted the City of Hastings migrate their localized GIS data and maps to ArcGIS Online (AGOL) for use in web applications, ArcGIS Field Maps, and to view and edit data directly in ArcGIS Pro (Esri’s desktop GIS software). Before the data migration to AGOL, WSB reviewed authoritative datasets stored on the City’s network and identified that data cleanup was necessary. WSB recommended and implemented a hybrid version of the Local Government Information Model (LGIM) to standardize their GIS datasets. The LGIM provided a great foundation for the City’s data and allows for expansion as the city continues to grow. Once the GIS data was converted and quality controlled, these datasets were then added to AGOL as hosted feature layers.

In parallel to this data conversion, WSB deployed, implemented, and configured an organizational account within AGOL for the City. WSB first reviewed the City’s GIS license usage and provided recommendations to the City for number of AGOL user accounts, license types, and number of credits. WSB then worked with City staff to set up web maps and field maps for online viewing and field collection for necessary applications (e.g maintenance maps, utility maps, street maps). Once everything was configured and ready, WSB provided hands-on training that ensured all appropriate staff members were set-up for success.

By deploying the LGIM to the City’s datasets along with Implementing and configuring AGOL, the City of Hastings now had a centralized location for their GIS. It also provided easy-to-use web mapping resource to access and interact with all their GIS data at any time.
