The City of Enid, Oklahoma partnered with WSB to modernize its GIS infrastructure by migrating its ArcGIS Enterprise deployment from an on-premise environment to Microsoft Azure. The City selected WSB for this effort due to WSB’s extensive experience with ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, cloud migrations, and platform modernization. Prior to the project, the City’s Enterprise GIS environment was hosted on-premise and running ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8. As the City’s GIS program expanded, the existing infrastructure could no longer keep pace with the growing demand for GIS services, applications, and data management. In addition, the aging deployment required an upgrade to the latest version of ArcGIS Enterprise to take advantage of modern capabilities and ensure continued support.
WSB worked closely with City staff to plan and execute a phased migration strategy that minimized operational disruption while modernizing the City’s GIS platform. The project began with the migration of the existing ArcGIS Enterprise environment to Microsoft Azure using a lift-and-shift approach, allowing the City to transition its existing deployment to the cloud with minimal disruption to ongoing GIS operations. Following the successful migration, WSB led the planning and implementation of a modern ArcGIS Enterprise architecture in the cloud. This included deploying a multi-machine Enterprise environment designed to improve system scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability. As part of this modernization effort, WSB also guided the City through a successful upgrade of its ArcGIS Enterprise platform from version 10.8 to version 11.5.
The resulting cloud-based deployment provides the City with a more resilient and scalable GIS infrastructure that can grow alongside the City’s expanding GIS program. By leveraging Microsoft Azure and a modern ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, the City of Enid now has the flexibility to scale resources as needed, improve system reliability, and support future GIS applications and services.
