Construction Materials Testing and Inspection
WSB’s Materials Division provided Special Inspections and Materials Testing services for Melissa ISD’s new $50 million football stadium. Our scope of work allowed the project to meet quality standards and remain on schedule.
We began the project by testing grading and subgrade preparation for the stadium. Surrounding paving, and parking areas, including the underground drainage structures leading to detention ponds. Both onsite and borrow-source materials were tested for proctors and used during the fill and compaction efforts. Our ACI-certified technicians conducted fresh concrete testing and strength verification for all parking areas, sidewalks, flatwork, bleachers, ADA ramps, piers, and columns. We performed visual inspections of reinforcing steel before each pour, and lab-tested strength specimens confirmed compliance with 28-day strength targets. Preliminary strength testing allowed for efficient scheduling, enabling the contractor to maintain project momentum. In addition, WSB oversaw BKH, a third-party inspection group, to perform structural steel inspections. This included column welds, beams, floor decking, and ultrasonic testing of welded beam splices.
Through our expertise and attention to detail, WSB upheld the quality, safety, and timely completion of this premier facility for Melissa ISD.
