Significant improvements have been made to the bridge, that is the ramp to Westbound I-244. The bridge that was originally built in 1966 with the rest of the interstate, posed safety concerns and was functionally obsolete. The ramp has been in bad shape with visible patches along the bridge and had a constant maintenance problem.

Due to the bridge’s curve and crossings of other highways it created complications of what could be done to improve the bridge. High volume traffic was the biggest concern for this project and the solution was to demolish the original bridge and build a new one. The new bridge is now wider and more effective in managing traffic.

We worked closely with ODOT on this project and used design software to develop the new bridge design. The improvements on the new bridge include a 1,202-foot-long X 45 foot wide, nine (9) span, steel I-girder bridge and about 0.3 miles of approach roadway connecting to the bridge.
