Abdallah Candies, a Twin Cities-based candy maker, has operated as a family owned business since 1909. The popularity of their chocolates and candies demanded they need expand their operations and staff. WSB had the opportunity to assist EFH Company and Abdallah Candies in developing this new multi-function warehouse, production facility, and retail space in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
The new 20-acre site presented some unique challenges that we successfully navigated including access issues, site circulation for multiple uses (employees, retail operation, and deliveries), high pressure pipelines located at the most prominent corner of the site, and City mandated regional stormwater facilities. We created a site design that accommodated all functions, provided room for future expansion, and maximized density to subdivide off the remaining land as a sellable parcel.
