The I-45 Ramp Improvements project addresses a complex transportation challenge. Focusing on congestion, traffic flow, and safety on one of the busiest freeway corridors. Located north of Houston in Montgomery and Harris counties. The area’s 10-lane freeway, with HOV lanes and continuous three-lane frontage roads in both directions, faced significant issues. With ramp placement, weaving and traffic bottlenecks that added to constant congestion.

WSB’s solution involves relocating existing ramps to streamline traffic movement, aiming to reduce congestion and weaving for smoother travel. Additionally, the project plans to introduce a new two-lane collector-distributor road between Rayford Road/Sawdust Road and Hardy Toll Road. Allowing enhancement connectivity and accessibility. Through detailed schematic design, environmental analyses and documentation, traffic projections, and IAJR, WSB is providing a comprehensive approach. Alleviating congestion and significantly improving safety for drivers navigating this critical corridor.
