Montgomery County faced growing traffic congestion and safety concerns at key intersections due to increasing development and travel demand. To enhance traffic flow and improve safety, WSB provided civil engineering design services for multiple intersection improvement projects throughout the county. These projects included intersections at Kuykendahl Road and Research Forest Drive, Kuykendahl Road and Bay Branch Drive, Research Forest Drive and Grogans Mill Road, Woodlands Parkway and FM 2978, Woodlands Parkway and Montfair Boulevard, and Woodlands Parkway and Terramont Drive.

WSB’s solutions included adding and extending right and left turn lanes with reinforced concrete pavement, widening roadways to accommodate increased traffic volumes, and improving pavement markings and signage to enhance driver navigation. Our staff also coordinated with private utilities to minimize disruption and developed a stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) to manage environmental impacts. Additionally, WSB supported the widening of westbound Woodlands Parkway, easing a major traffic bottleneck.

Through these improvements, WSB helped Montgomery County enhance mobility, safety, and long-term infrastructure resilience.
