What is the most exciting change you’ve seen at WSB?
When I joined as the tenth employee, it has been exhilarating to watch our company experience such remarkable growth.
Who is someone you’ve worked with at WSB that has really inspired or influenced you?
Early in my career, I joined a survey crew with John Rodden—a larger-than-life character whose boundless optimism and endless stream of jokes could lighten even the longest, rain-soaked workday. But it was another colleague, Morrie Moris, who became my true mentor. Morrie’s deep expertise in civil engineering and thoughtful approach to design taught me technical fundamentals and, more importantly, showed me the profound value of mentoring. By generously sharing his knowledge with younger staff, he not only accelerated their growth but also elevated the quality of every project we delivered to our clients.
What keeps you excited about working here?
I began my career as an accountant and spent the first six years honing my financial skills. Yet drafting always called to me, so when an opportunity arose, I seized it and enrolled in trade school to master the craft. I started by drafting by hand on mylar with ink and grew alongside each new technology advancement. Even when projects bring frustrations or stress, I still love what I do—and I’m excited to return to work every morning.
Even if you’re new to WSB, can you share about a moment that made you feel like “I belong here”?
When I applied for a role with Bret, I was the last candidate to interview—and he told me the position had already been filled. But Bret insisted on having me, promising to carve out a new spot and reassign the original hire. As WSB launched, I worried about joining a startup—especially with a young family depending on me. Bret’s unwavering confidence put me at ease. He assured me that, with hard work and dedication, WSB would thrive—and we’d all be able to provide for our loved ones. From day one, I’ve felt like a true member of the team.
