What is your first memory of WSB?
Meeting Kevin Wold, Dillon Dombrovski, and Shannon Heitmann at the Iowa State Engineering Career Fair. I knew within that 10-minute conversation that if WSB hires people like this, I want to work for them.
What is the most exciting change you’ve seen at WSB?
I’ve really enjoyed seeing the increase in size and complexity of projects we work on – our clients have seen that we can do it well, and we appreciate their trust in our services!
What stands out to you about WSB’s culture and values?
WSB’s culture has always been the reason I wanted to work here and why I have stayed here. We go out of our way to make new staff feel welcome, invest in career development as our staff proceed through their careers, and work to build a culture where we do actually hang out together outside of work. Knowing that you have that level of trust with your coworkers is unmatched.
Who is someone you’ve worked with at WSB that has really inspired or influenced you?
Emily Brown. As my main Project Manager when I was a Graduate Engineer, she taught me almost everything I know. When I made mistakes, she never criticized me – she only worked with me to fix it and learn from it. She also always stuck to her beliefs and values – being respectful of working hours, encouraging taking PTO, putting family life first – and has never deviated from that. She’s also just a wonderful person to hang out with!
If you could say one thing to all of our clients as we celebrate this milestone, what would it be?
Thank you, we appreciate you, here’s to the next 30 years of working together!
What does being a part of a company celebrating 30 years mean to you?
It’s wild to think that WSB is as old as I am – but I think that’s what drew me to WSB in the first place. A younger company who was ready to challenge the status quo, a company who was determined to be flexible to find the best way forward as opposed to clinging to tradition.
