Wastewater Treatment Facility Expansion and Upgrade,
North Branch

The City of North Branch has been experiencing significant growth over the last few years and was in dire need of finding a solution to their wastewater treatment needs before their existing aerated pond facility was out of capacity. The City’s goals for wastewater treatment were to provide a cost effective treatment system that could meet their needs both now and into the future, while utilizing as much of the existing facilities as possible. WSB was retained by the City to provide facility planning, environmental reviews, permitting, and design. The facility was phased to lower the initial cost and reduce the long term risk to existing residents.

The new treatment facility consists of many unique structures:

• preliminary treatment building
• cast in place selector tanks
• cast in place oxidation ditch system and final clarifiers
• control building
• aerated sludge holding and glass-lined steel sludge storage tanks
• process building to house pumping equipment and sludge blowers
