GIS Easement Mapping, Golden Valley

WSB staff researched, mapped, and linked scanned easement documents to the base map for the City of Golden Valley. The City had stored this easement information in three separate locations within the City, which made it time consuming and troublesome to access the information.

Easement mapping provides City staff with a single location where they can quickly access all of its easement information and overlay it with other GIS and CAD data sets as well as modernizing the update process. All documents on file at the County Recorder office that identify a City interest (i.e. permanent easements, maintenance agreements, vacations, etc.) are scanned, mapped, and linked to the City’s GIS system. This benefits City staff using easement data for R-O-W, permitting, plan review, and improves overall customer service.
