TH 52/117th Street Interchange Construction, Rosemount and Inver Grove Heights

WSB was retained by Mn/DOT to provide the construction administration, observation, and surveying for the $14.2 million TH 52/117th Street Interchange Improvement project. This project consisted of constructing a new bridge overpass on 117th Street over TH 52 along with constructing two new bridges on TH 52 at a location approximately two miles south of 117th Street where a future railroad underpass will be located. The project also involved major private utility relocations of electrical transmission and distribution lines, crude oil fuel lines which are utilized by the adjacent refinery, gas distribution, service lines, and telephone, within the project corridor.

WSB was also responsible for providing the material testing and meeting Mn/DOT’s schedule of material controls. Extensive coordination and communication with the adjacent refinery security personnel was required since the majority of the interchange is being constructed adjacent to a high security facility. WSB’s personnel were responsible for providing all of the backup documentation and recordkeeping necessary as required by the CAARS recordkeeping system which is in conformance with Mn/DOT’s construction procedures. WSB was successful in incorporating plan revisions that provided positive benefit to the roadways drainage system.
