Hoyt Lakes – Babbitt Connection Project

The Hoyt Lakes to Babbitt Roadway Connection Project was undertaken to develop a more direct route between the communities of Hoyt Lakes and Babbitt. This roadway connection is intended to improve local and regional connectivity within St. Louis County, specifically between the cities of Hoyt Lakes and Babbitt.

The initial task entailed an alternatives analysis of various roadway corridors. For the analysis, WSB developed a traffic model using CUBE to evaluate the performance of the alternatives for the 2030 horizon year.

The CUBE model divided the region into numerous Transportation Analysis Zones (TAZs) for the detail necessary to provide the best traffic forecasts. In addition, ten external stations were created to route traffic into and out of the modeled area. A no-build and ten alternative alignments were modeled to compare traffic volumes.
