WSB was retained by Hennepin County to provide comprehensive engineering services for the reconstruction of CSAH 61 (Shady Oak Road) from Bren Road to CSAH 3 (Excelsior Boulevard). The project length is approximately 1.6 miles, and the reconstruction includes: expansion from two-lane to four-lane with channelized left turn lanes; rehabilitation and widening of Bridge No. 27533
over the SOO line railroad; complete replacement of Bridge No. 90596 over the

WSB completed preliminary engineering design work and prepared the federal and state environmental documentation for the project (Environmental Assessment, Environmental Assessment Worksheet, Programmatic 4(f)/6(f) Evaluation).

WSB also provided public involvement services for the project. A citizen advisory committee (CAC) was established during the preliminary design phase to engage local citizens in the development of the proposed improvements. Six neighborhood representatives were selected to identify local neighborhood concerns and communicate their neighbors’ solutions for the project. WSB worked with the CAC to incorporate design elements. The CAC along with other public outreach was essential to receive local resident concurrence with the project.
