City of St. Anthony Village Dedicates Sculpture

The City of St. Anthony Village recently held a dedication ceremony for Sakari “Sakke” Peltola’s “Weatherman” Sculpture at Salo Park in St. Anthony Village. Those in attendance included St. Anthony (Salo Finland) Sister City Association, City of St. Anthony Village, City of St. Anthony elected officials, visiting school group from Moisio School in Salo Finland, Public Art St. Paul (PASP), Finnish American community, donors, Dave Dahl (KSTP), and the general public. The Weatherman was one of the sculptures created during the summer 2006 Public Art St. Paul (PASP) Minnesota Rocks, International Stone Carving Symposium. The artist, Sakke Peltola explains one of the reasons he created the sculpture. "Upon arrival from Finland, I learned that people in Minnesota like to talk a lot about the weather - just like we do in Finland. From so many stories and similarities between our countries, this was one important connection to complete my work. The Weatherman was born.” WSB & Associates, Inc. was one of the sculpture donors along with the City of St. Anthony, Hedberg Landscape, Saint Anthony Sister City Association, Pratt Ordway Properties, Dominium, and Hunt Associates.
